THE UNCONVENTIONAL PATH TO TV STARDOM: Kent Gilbert's Story - Episode #264

Kent Gilbert, a long-term ex-pat in Japan, shares a common goal with

many others who have spent significant time in the country: giving back

to Japan. Originally an attorney with Baker McKenzie and armed with an

MBA, Kent stumbled upon a television career in Japan, appearing in two

highly popular shows, Sekai Marugoto How Much and Sunday Morning. As the

first foreign talent on Japanese television, Kent revolutionized the

media industry, paving the way for a wave of gaijin talents. Throughout

his 43 years in Japan, Kent has been an advocate for positive change in

the country, expressing his opinions on Internet TV and his YouTube

channel. He has also authored an impressive collection of 63 books

covering various topics such as history, Japanese culture, politics, and

his reasons for staying in Japan. Kent's passion lies in Japan's

defense posture, and he frequently gives interviews and speeches. Kent

has also provided insightful suggestions to tackle traffic congestion

and was the first to suggest the idea of implementing a "variable fare"

system for expressways. With his remarkable breadth of knowledge, this

episode is a must-watch for all.
