It was my great pleasure getting to know Haruno Akiyama, who is admirably attuned to her body and mind through her daily regimen of fitness training at TAC and practicing the piano, which is profoundly spiritual and her “conversation with God.” Haruno started playing at six years old, and after graduating from university, her music was enjoyed by audiences at the New Otani hotel and through TV appearances. Last year Haruno became involved with Craft 21, an organization aiming to help preserve Japanese craftsmanship and introduce the Japanese cultural arts to the world.
